Wild ideas deserve more than just a passing thought -- they deserve to be built. In this Agentic AI era, no idea should be left unbuilt. That is the idea behind alt games portal - a simple, functional, small-sized, AI-powered game builder where all you need is your imagination to build a game.
alt games portal: Formerly Web Games Portal
alt games portal, formerly 'Web Games Portal' started as a one place portal to play 1400+ high quality HTML5 games on Android, with an install size of merely 5MB. People loved it and and we crossed 100k+ installs without any paid marketing. At one point, handling 8000+ users per day!
The developer (Me!) had to abandon the project because of my college assignment deadlines and job. The app was also removed from Play Store because of not updating for more than 6 months, with an invalid domain name.
In 2026, I have brought back the project as alt games portal with a much ambitious vision. Instead of just being a portal to play simple games, it is now also a platform to share your imagination, let others play, remix it and build upon it. The goal is to reduce friction to creation, while embracing the power of AI agents.
Why not just use Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc...?
You can, but they are not designed for just game development. Also, they have a massive foot print compared to alt games portal, which is a simple 50MB app, where the game builder agent runs on the cloud. This means, even on a 2GB RAM Android phone with less than 8GB storage, you can build games without any lag, then share it to the world.
Besides, programming specifically for Android devices come with lots of Android specific features like the ability to use Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Camera, Flashlight, etc. that general AI coding agents are not aware of. alt games portal is designed to take full advantage of these features, making it a great platform for building games that are specific to Android devices.
How does it work?
alt games portal uses a combination of AI and human creativity to build games. The user gives a text prompt or a camera captured sketch which the AI agent uses to generate the game in the cloud using our custom game builder AI Agent on the Firebase Genkit agent framework. Since the game building process runs in the background, users can continue playing other games, or even close the app. However, it only takes few minutes to generate a game.
The Process
- User provides a description of the game they want to build and the game category (e.g., racing, puzzle, action, etc. or general).
- AI agent generates the game in the cloud with a live progress bar showing the generation progress and live Android notification.
- User can play the game immediately after it is generated, right inside the app.
- The game builder AI Agent not only builds the game, but also generates game description and featured image so that the share function is just a click away.
- User can share the game with others in social media.
- User can remix each others game to create their own unique version and share those separately.
